How do I get permanent residency in Turkey?

The primary way to get permanent residency is to live in Turkey for 8 consecutive years (Art. 43(1)(a) of the Law on Foreigners and International Protection). For an 8-year period to be considered consecutive for purposes of permanent residence, the applicant should not have stayed outside of Turkey for more than 180 days in any given year. Secondly, the applicant should not have remained out of Turkey for more than 365 days within the 5 years ending on the day of the application.

The applicant should not have received social support from the state within 3 years before applying for permanent residency. The applicant’s passport must be valid for at least 6 more months. Furthermore, the applicant must have sufficient regular income to cover personal and family expenses.

– A copy of your previous residence permit

– Original and copy of passport or equivalent travel document

– Proof of health insurance
